El-Galil Secondary School has recently taken part in The Israel Middle East Model United Nations’ three-day conference. The TIMEMUN conference, which was held from February 16th till 18th at the Walworth Barbour American International School in Even Yehuda, included schools from all over the country and a guest delegation from Prague. The 600 multi-national student participants spoke English all throughout the conference and actively participated in the different model committees of the UN. Two delegations from El-Galil represented Greece and Norway in eight different committees. They discussed issues such as promoting gender equality worldwide in areas of education, training, science and technology

 

The delegations consisted of students from the 10th till 12th grade accompanied by their advisor, Buthaina Bishara-Mabjish. The delegates prepared policy statements, did some presentations and voted on clauses and resolutions. The student delegates were: Ahlam Saeed, Aya Hreish, Aya Magharbi, Fatmi Saadi, Khadija Fahoum, Hadeel Au-Asaad, Hiba Abu-Rajab, Hussein Abu Jabal, Muhammad Abu-Rabea, Muhammad Masarwi, Roaa Abed, Salma Omari, Samah Mousa, Siraj Othman, Siwar Mustafa, and Suhaib Waked. One of the students, Ahlam Saeed, who represented Norway in the environment committee, received an Honourable Mention certificate at the closing ceremony of the conference
